Alan Bur Johnson received a B.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Washington in 1990. Johnson's work reflects his extensive education in the biological sciences, often incorporating methods and materials he employed in the lab.
Johnson was an active member of the Seattle art community and continued to show there after his departure in 1992. His recent work has been included in solo and group exhibitions nationwide.
Johnson now lives in the former ghost town of Jerome, Arizona, creating work in a studio which once functioned as a chemistry laboratory.
